Top 6 Ways to Increase Your Directory Approvals

All directories follow different submission guidelines. You must pay attention to all directory rules before to link submission. These basic tips below will help increase your approval in any directory.
1) Let's start out with the title. Most if not all web directories, do not allow keywords in your title, but do allow, your company name or website name, without.com added at the end. If a quality directory allow titles relevant to category, which some do, follow these basic tips:
- Title must be relevant to website or category selected
- No keywords in the title or no overuse of keywords in title if allowed. Use one keyword max.
- Use a maximum of 35 characters for your title. Never have a lengthy title. This will decrease your chance of approval in any directory submitted to.
- Do not use upper case letters throughout your title, only the beginning.
- No selling words in title.
2) Let's jump into your description. When you submit your description, keep in mind, the description is a brief introduction of your company and website. This is not the time to sell services, packages or mention promotions and prices save that for advertising. Your goal is to bring a steady flow of quality back links, which will last.
When you start to prepare your description, keep these tips in mind:
- No selling in description
- Do not mention promotion or price
- Your description should not go over 255 characters and you should have a minimum of 150 characters in the description. (Some directories do allow a maximum of 500 characters, in description. Keep this in mind)
3) Keywords can be a bit tricky, but it is imperative you select the keywords that best describe your website content. You should have 3-4 keywords for your listing.
4) Let's talk about your category selection. You must select the category that best describes your website content. Keep in mind directory editors and owners do not edit your listing category, they expect you to know where to list your website. (In some cases they will make sure your listing appears in the correct category, but this will depend highly on your title, description and website submitted.
5) When you submit your website, only submit your primary domain (mysite.com) No deep links (mywebsite.com/about) unless the directory allows you to.
6) Your email must be valid, when you submit. You may receive an email confirmation link that will need your attention in order to confirm you submitted to a particular directory. Some directories do not allow free email accounts, like Gmail or yahoo. But do allow email accounts associated with your domain (info@mywebsite.com) Remember this tip. When you read submission rules and follow them, your approval ratings increase.
Keep in mind, to make your listing appear more natural in search engines, you should change your title and description. For example, every few hundred submissions, you should have a different title, description and keywords to go with your listing. Do not submit 1 title, 1 description and the same keywords for all submissions. Rank with different title, description and keywords. Remember the goal is to build quality back links that get indexed.
